DNa Groups

DISCOVER | NURTURE | ACT (DNA) GROUPS

DNA groups are designed to flow naturally out of small group community. If you are currently in an FBC Small Group, find two other same gender people from your group and agree to meet regularly for spiritual study, introspection, and accountability. If you are not yet part of a small group, you can still ask two other same gender friends to join you and form a DNA group.

The process is simple, but transformative.

The format for weekly discussion in your groups is listed below:

DISCOVER

Every person shares what they have heard and learned from God through their Scripture reading from the past week. Come ready to discuss four questions:

  1. What did you discover this week? What did you learn?
  2. What were you reminded of?
  3. Where did the Spirit lead you to repentance and faith this week?
  4. How have you struggled with sin/unbelief in your life this week?

It can be helpful to go through the same Scripture but it is not a necessity. The goal is to teach the head.

NURTURE

Every person will spend time confessing and repenting during this space.  Each will share specifically how they have sinned against God. Sharing what unbelief was revealed in your heart? Where have you not been trusting in God?  (The sample questions attached can help)

Spend time reminding yourself and the others in your group of the grace that is in Christ.  Remember all those sins were nailed to the cross, speak the gospel into each other’s lives, and remind one another of your identity in Christ.  (Galatians 2:20, 2 Cor 3:18, 2 Cor 5:17-21)

Hearing the gospel out loud from one another helps us remember what God has done through Christ for us. Our entire lives as Christians here on earth will be a process of repentance and faith. The goal is to shepherd the heart.

ACT

First, share how you need to respond after what the Lord revealed during Nurture time. What behaviors, actions or mindsets, need to change this week? Pray and answer two questions:

  1. What do you want me to do?
  2. Who do you want me to tell?

The goal is to empower the hands.

Second, share how your relationships and spiritual conversations are going with your non-believing friends.  Pray for one specific name of those you are engaging with and discuss what practical steps you can take in building relationships and showing and sharing the hope in Christ with them.  And pray and ask God to save them!
