Doug Shively’s Funeral

We are all saddened by the loss of Doug Shively. He was a faithful missionary and TECH Team and a beloved part of our church. We were blessed to have him in our lives.

Doug’s funeral will be at Radar Funeral Home on Saturday, March 24 at 2:00. There will be visitation before the service, starting at 1:00. A committal service will follow at Rosewood Cemetery.

Sermon Reflection

The last part of the sermon is what most convicted me. Where do I find my life? Too often I look to things like people’s opinions or a job well-done. But what happens if I don’t do a good job or opinions turn against me? Will that crush me (of course it would hurt)? Finding my life in Christ means that I look more and more to his love, care, and grace for me to
know that I matter and am secure.

Prayer Prompts

How to pray for FBC

Easter preparations are in high gear. Please pray that everything gets done. Pray that the Lord brings the right people to the right events. Pray that their hearts will be open to the gospel.

How to pray for our Community

Our community has two exciting events coming up this weekend. The LeTourneau car show will take place at Maude Cobb on March 24 & 25. Proceeds from the show will benefit a terrific ministry called Righteous Rides. Righteous Rides provides vehicles for missionaries when they come back to the U.S. for furlough.

Longview’s Homeless Resource Day is on March 24. The city is gathering basic supplies to provide as many as 400 homeless individuals. Please pray that there is a connection between these acts of kindness and God’s love.

How to pray for our World

There was another school shooting today (Tuesday) and more bombs. It is a reminder that we live in a fallen, broken world. The pain people face every day is significant. Easter reminds us that it will not always be this way. All things will be made new. We can pray that God will be glorified even in the midst of horrible evil because God is not overcome by our fallen world.
