Sermon Reflection

“We love because He [God] first loved us.” [1 Jn 4:19] My ability to love anyone else – God, my friends, my family, certainly my enemies – rests on God’s initial love for me. He moved first. I easily forget this. I tend to think that God’s love for me depends on how well I love others. But it’s the other way around. God’s perfect, unfailing love enables me to love. Love is a risk. But knowing that God loves me makes taking the risk possible.

Prayer Prompts

How to pray for FBC & our World

8 Days of Hope is in full swing in Houston. We have a fantastic crew of youth and adults ministering to people devastated by the flooding. Continue to pray for their safety and ministry effectiveness.

How to pray for our Community

Let’s continue last’s week’s prayer for the homeless in Longview. In case you missed it, there will be a Homeless Resource Day in Longview on March 24. The city is gathering basic supplies to provide for as many as 400 homeless individuals. Please pray that there is a connection between these acts of kindness and God’s love.
