Sermon Reflection

I am amazed at how self-centered I can be. That is why I was so convicted by last Sunday’s passage (1 John 1:1-4). John’s joy was completed by seeing others in fellowship with God. It’s hard to imagine how a self-centered person can think like that. I look for the good things that will happen to me to complete my joy. I am praying that the Lord will give me His heart for the people around me. I am praying that the Lord will help me find completed joy in the spiritual well-being of others.

Prayer Prompts

How to pray for FBC
We are launching the Pray for Me campaign soon. Let’s pray that many people in the church will see God work powerfully as we pray for one another.

How to pray for our Community
I saw that early voting for the upcoming election starts this week. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 encourages to pray for our political leaders that we be allowed to live a peaceful and godly life. Let’s start praying this now. Let’s pray that the leaders elected will be a support for the spread of the gospel and not a hindrance.

How to pray for our World
This has been an odd news week. Winter storms hit Southern states unusually hard. Hawaii had the sort of false alarm that made them glad it was a false alarm, after they got over the panic and terror. We have been reminded of how much of life is out of our control. Let’s pray that the one who is in control is glorified through all of this.
