Mid-Week Musings from Lead Pastor Todd Malone
Leviticus intimidates people. It is seems pointless to us – a bunch of information about stuff that isn’t a part of our daily lives. But here’s what’s fascinating. Leviticus was the first book taught to Jewish children. Jewish boys would have the whole book memorized by early elementary school age. Leviticus was important to the Jews because it answers the question of how sinful man approaches a holy God. As you move into reading Leviticus this week, ask what these strange passages teach about how to relate to a holy God.
How to pray for FBC & Our Community
From Psalm 107:28-32
Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
29 He made the storm be still,
and the waves of the sea were hushed.
30 Then they were glad that the waters were quiet,
and he brought them to their desired haven.
31 Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man!
32 Let them extol him in the congregation of the people,
and praise him in the assembly of the elders.
The Psalm pictures someone’s distress as being like getting caught in a storm at sea. God quiets the storm and delivers those in the storm to safety. They respond by thanking God for His unfailing love demonstrated through His deliverance.
Our community and our church went through a devastating storm last week. Let’s take time to thank the Lord for His steadfast love and His protection. Continue to pray for those who are rebuilding. Pray for their finances, their emotional and physical protection. Pray that they will know the Lord better through the experience.
