Mid-Week Musings from Lead Pastor Todd Malone

SERMON REFLECTION

I am excited to hear that many people are eager to read Romans. Here are a couple of ideas to help. First, don’t be afraid to use audio. Listening to it in the car helps, even if it’s in chunks. Second, if you don’t have time to read all 16 chapters at once, at least read entire sections. However, try to do all the sections within a day or two, so you don’t lose track of the big picture. This is a good way to divide Romans into sections:

  • Chapters 1-5
  • Chapters 6-8
  • Chapters 9-11
  • Chapters 12-16

Remember, the goal is not detailed Bible study. The goal is to see the big picture, pick up on themes, get acquainted with issues, etc. This will help you as we study Romans in more detail together.

    PRAYER PROMPTS

    How to pray for FBC

It is a universal truth that churches always need more volunteers. That is the case at FBC. This week pray for volunteers for our Youth Ministry and for the Lord to raise them up quickly. We have a great team in place. Pray for their fruitfulness in ministry.

How to pray for our Community

I have had a couple of conversations this week about outreach to the Hispanic community in East Texas. It is a fast-growing community in our area, many of whom are eager for the gospel. An FBCer involved in a Spanish-language Bible Study shared with me that one of the members came to Christ last week. That is incredibly exciting. I am praying for the gospel to penetrate our local Hispanic community.

How to pray for our World

I was not able to watch the State of the Union address, but I think I know the answer: The Union is divided. I am praying for unity in the Union this week.
