SERMON REFLECTION

God wants to give us life. Christmas celebrates that God actively pursued us with the gift of life. We naturally think of life in heaven when we think about the life God gives us. But Jesus offers much more. He offers a new kind of life now. I have spent the past couple of days wondering how grateful I have been for the life He gave me in 2018. I don’t mean to make myself feel guilty. I just want to remember to be grateful. Jesus has been at work in my life, and yours, every day all year. Are we thankful for what He is doing?

PRAYER PROMPTS

How to pray for FBC

Pray for FBC leadership as we move into the new year. Pray that we will be sensitive and responsive to the Lord’s leading. Pray for wisdom, courage, and a focus on glorifying the Lord above all else.

How to pray for our Community and our World

I am starting now to pray for revival in 2019. Revival is a tricky word. I’m not sure it is the right word. We revive someone when a healthy person is sick or unconscious and we return them to health. The Bible describes people who are without Christ as spiritually dead. They didn’t start off healthy; they started off dead. What I am really praying is that people who never had spiritual life would have it by knowing the Lord. Our culture calls that revival, so the word will have to work.

I don’t want to be an observer in this revival. I am asking the Lord to use FBC and me personally. I believe it is a prayer that He wants to answer with a big, “YES!”
