Mid-Week Musings from Lead Pastor Todd Malone
What encouraged me from Sunday’s passage (Ephesians 5:1-6) was Paul’s reminder that we are beloved children of God. The inalterable truth that I am cared for, protected, guided, corrected, and supported by God as a perfect father would love an imperfect child comforts me. It motivates me to love others the way I have been loved. It makes me want to share that love with those who have never experienced it. I am praying that the Lord will help me better see myself as His beloved child. I want that identity to control how I relate to other people.
- Help me not be defensive, resting in the assurance that I am loved.
- Help me be generous, patient, merciful, and honest.
- Help me love sacrificially.

How to pray for our Community
South Ward Elementary School has an unusually high number of children living in poverty. Christmas is a horrible day for many of these children – they will not receive a single present. Although we know that Christmas is not about the gifts, not receiving anything on Christmas can make a child feel unimportant or worse. That is why for the past few years we have collected money from the church to purchase small gifts for every student at the school. Please pray that we raise the money needed to purchase gifts again this year. Pray for these children to have a good Christmas. Most importantly, pray that they come to know Jesus.
How to pray for our World
Let’s continue to pray for the impeachment hearings that are dividing the country. Pray that the truth, whatever it is, would be known. Pray for wisdom to respond in a God-honoring way to that truth. Pray that our country would find unity.
