Mid-Week Musings from Lead Pastor Todd Malone

Sermon Reflection

Slade pointed out that Romans 15 affirms the maturity of his readers. The Apostle Paul recognized that even mature believers need to return to the fundamentals. This includes fresh instruction on how to apply those fundamentals to the issues they faced in their relationships. The fact is that we never outgrow the gospel. We need constant reminders of the truth of our sin and God’s grace that saves us.

Prayer Prompts

How to pray for FBC

Let’s pray for AWANA this week. I understand they have about 30 kids involved online – I think that’s fantastic. Of course, everyone prefers to meet in person. Pray for a great experience for the children participating online. Pray for wisdom for when and how to meet together in person.

How to pray for our Community

According to the paper, the Longview area unemployment rate was 9% for September. That is an increase of 1.7% over August. The state’s unemployment rate for September was 8.3%. The article explains that this is due to the ongoing effects of Covid. Jobs are not necessarily coming back even as businesses reopen.

Let’s pray that the jobs will return to our area quickly. Pray for those in our community who are still looking for work.

How to pray for our World

Early voting is open – pray for God to work through this election.

Let’s also continue to pray for Jean and Jean Marie Joseph, FBC missionaries to Haiti. They joined us in church a couple of weeks ago and shared important changes in their ministry. One change requires them to rebuild much of their funding. Pray for the Lord to meet their financial needs.
