Mid-Week Musings from Lead Pastor Todd Malone
Unity trumps opinion. There are many, many issues in which Scripture gives us freedom to form convictions and act on them. Since the Bible does not give clear statements on these issues, Romans 14 allows others to hold competing convictions. Romans 14 does not, however, grant the freedom for disunity. May we live out Romans 14 as a church, holding our opinions with conviction, but never at the expense of unity.
How to pray for FBC
Our Sunday morning Life Groups resumed a few weeks ago. They are an important part of helping people grow to think and live more like Jesus. Pray for our teachers as they lead their classes each week. We still have room for people to join. Pray for the Lord to bring the right people into each Life Group.
How to pray for our Community
It’s been a week since the news broke of voter fraud in Longview. I am angry at the selfishness – the willingness to put his personal gain ahead of Gregg County. It is a reminder to me to pray for the integrity of those in positions of power in our community. I am going to pick a couple of people in influential positions and pray that they will operate with integrity.
How to pray for our World
Speaking of people in influential positions, we had quite the presidential debate the other day. I won’t try to offer commentary on the debate itself. Instead I will pray that the candidates and the parties reflect the character of God in their interactions with one another and the voters.
