Mid-Week Musings from Lead Pastor Todd Malone

Sermon Reflection

The sermon challenged you to have a conversation with someone with a different conviction. The goal of the conversation is to understand their conviction, not to argue or debate. I have found that sometimes I need to set a low goal, especially on complex issues. Often my goal is to learn one new piece of information. I recently talked to someone who had a very different conviction about a debatable topic. I did not learn new facts, but I learned a different way of looking at the facts. This person had concerns about dangers I had not thought about. I still do not hold his convictions, but I understand better why he holds them.

Prayer Prompts

How to pray for FBC

The youth have a retreat this weekend. Pray for their safety. Pray for God to challenge them and draw them closer to Him.

How to pray for our Community

Many local school districts are ending remote learning in an effort to improve teaching quality. At the same time, one local school district – Ore City – is moving to all remote learning for a couple of weeks due to a Covid outbreak. Let’s pray for the students and teachers in Ore City for the next couple of weeks. Let’s also pray for smooth transitions as the other area schools return to in-person teaching.

How to pray for our World

The confirmation hearings concerning Supreme Court candidate Amy Coney Barrett are in full swing. Pray for God’s direction and His will to be done.
