Will people look at my life and want to “go to the house of the God of” Todd and Ann Malone? That was the question in the sermon that most convicted me. I want people to know me well enough to desire to know the Lord better. That requires having open, vulnerable relationships with non-Christians, which can be uncomfortable. As uncomfortable as it might be, it is the Lord’s most common way of drawing people to Him.
How to pray for FBC
Continue to pray for the transitions taking place at FBC. Ginny is retiring and Rebecca Simcox is stepping into her role; Jordan Johnson is joining FBC full time, Gary Lewis will step back his hours, and David Fisher will move off of staff and focus full-time on Eight Days of Hope. These are incredible men and women who have played vital parts of life at FBC. Please pray for them and their ministries.
How to Pray for Our Community and Our World
October is Domestic Violence Awareness month in the U.S. About one in three women in the U.S. are affected by domestic violence in some way. The same percentage holds for Gregg County. This issue affects me personally. Several members of my family have been victims of abuse. It is one of the reasons I serve on the Board for the Women’s Center of East Texas. Please join me in praying this month that victims will find the comfort and healing that can be found only in Christ. Pray for abusers to learn that there is a better way to relate. Pray for Christians to have the courage to speak out against domestic violence.
