Biblical compassion can be defined as a deep, sympathetic feeling for those who are suffering, accompanied by a desire and an action to alleviate their pain. Compassion is not passive; it is felt deeply within and moves a person to actively help and alleviate suffering.
Beginning Sunday, November 2 and continuing throughout the month, the Local Missions Team will be coordinating A Compassionate Christmas Collection; an opportunity for FBC to extend compassion to our community through generosity. We will highlight two of our local partners: Buckner and Christmas for the Least of These.
Christmas for the Least of These: All names have been taken from the tree for The Least of These. Thanks for your eager participation! Please be sure to have the gifts back on or before November 30, making sure the tag is attached to the gift.
Buckner Christmas Market: Buckner program parent participants earn “bucks” by putting in hard work to better themselves and their families. Those “bucks” are used at their Christmas Market so the parents can purchase gifts for their family members. These gift items are donations received from big-hearted volunteers. We will have a box at the display to receive donations of NEW toys to contribute to the Christmas Market. 200 families take part in this event, so the needs are great!
You can also make monetary donations that we will use to purchase items for the Market. We will be able to take cash, checks, or credit/debit cards.
Come see us in the lobby starting November 2!
So many needs, yet we can help. Please be praying that many kids in our area will experience the love of Jesus this Christmas season. It starts with you and me.
A lot of kids will have a merrier Christmas because of the generosity and love of our church family.
