New Year, Fresh Vision, Wholehearted Faith

Todd Malone

I am excited about 2018. I believe the Lord is going to do amazing things in and through FBC. Our purpose, as always, is to see people become and grow as followers of Jesus. That means they live out the intention of becoming more like Jesus. We are planning on two major initiatives this year to help FBCers and those around us become more like Jesus.Focus January 2018 Jesus

First, our theme for the year is Wholehearted Faith. We will explore what it means to direct our love, desires, priorities, and values toward Jesus. This will include a time of reading the Psalms together as a church. Tyler and our worship teams are already working on putting several Psalms to music.

Our other major theme will be Family Discipleship: helping our families raise children who follow Jesus. Look for some incredible new resources coming in February through our Children’s and Youth ministries. More than resources, they are part of a plan to help guide families through different seasons of life. Jim is putting together an excellent parenting class that launches in January. Of course, family discipleship involves the entire church. We will explore ways that singles, grandparents, and couples without children play critical roles as the church builds Christ-centered families.

FBC will do a lot more than these two initiatives. We will continue reaching into our community and around the world with the good news of Jesus. We will foster deeper relationships with one another.

This will be an amazing year. Thank you for being a part of it!

Pray for Me

We want to rally our church around the next generation by praying for the children and youth of our church families. The goal is to make a Kingdom impact in the lives of our young people through prayer. On January 21, 2018, our church will launch a Pray For Me campaign to cover our young families with prayer.

Focus January 2018 Road SkillsROAD SKILLS for Parents

It is a really good thing to think and act biblically. So on January 7, a new GROW group will begin meeting during our Sunday education hour at 9:00 a.m. Pastor Jim will be teaching ROAD SKILLS for Parents from the book of Proverbs. This is designed to help parents understand and implement essential life skills such as work ethics, word ethics, problem solving, self-discipline etc. But also designed to help a parent develop these skills in their children.  The class will meet for roughly 20 weeks or so and costs $5.00 (for materials). We need to know of your interest so we can plan for manuals and classroom space. Please register on line soon at THE HUB.   If you do not have kids at home, this will be nevertheless helpful to you as well.

On behalf of the staff, thank you for the gracious financial gifts you provided for the staff this year. We are all grateful for the many ways you care for us. Serving FBC is a blessing on its own. Thank you for further blessing us through your generosity.
