Meditation

Pray for openness to the Holy Spirit and God’s Word.

Read Psalm 15.

The questions below are designed to help you pay attention to how the Holy Spirit is using this Psalm in your life. These are not meant to be study questions as much as they are meant to help you recognize what the Holy Spirit is doing.

  • What comes to your mind as you read this Psalm?
  • What emotions stir up inside you?
  • How is this Psalm enlarging your view of God?
  • How is this Psalm convicting you? Challenging you?

Week 2– Psalm of Orientation

How Do We Live?

Introduction to Psalm 15

For Israel, the best way to celebrate God’s well-ordered creation is to live in light of God’s values, will, and purpose. Psalm 15 is an expression of how to respond to and honor God’s well-oriented world. Its main theme is expressed in the questions in verse 1 – How do we draw near to God? The rest of the Psalm answers the question.

 Psalm 15 (ESV)

A Psalm of David.

1O Lord, who shall sojourn in your tent? Who shall dwell on your holy hill?

2He who walks blamelessly and does what is right and speaks truth in his heart;

3who does not slander with his tongue and does no evil to his neighbor, nor takes up a reproach against his friend;

4in whose eyes a vile person is despised, but who honors those who fear the Lord; who swears to his own hurt and does not change;

5who does not put out his money at interest and does not take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved.
