Week 4 – Corporate Worship

Worship is more than Sunday mornings. But our corporate worship on Sundays is a vital part of the Christian life. Our focus in prayer this week will be on FBC’s corporate worship service.

Week Four’s Key Passage

After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” 11 And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.” [Revelation 7:9-12 ESV]

Saturday – Preaching

The sermon on July 21 emphasized the need to have Christ-centered, gospel-focused sermons. They need to emphasize God’s character and His work in our lives. It’s tempting to make sermons less about God than about us.

  • Pray for Wisdom: Pray for the wisdom to handle God’s Word accurately in our sermons.
  • Pray for Resources: Sermons take a surprisingly long time to prepare. The biggest resource our pastors need is time.
  • Pray for Transformation: Pray that God uses the preaching of His Word to help FBCers know the Lord better.

Thank you for praying with us through these 40 days!
