Week 4 – Corporate Worship

Worship is more than Sunday mornings. But our corporate worship on Sundays is a vital part of the Christian life. Our focus in prayer this week will be on FBC’s corporate worship service.

Week Four’s Key Passage

After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” 11 And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.” [Revelation 7:9-12 ESV]

Friday – Safety Team

Safety is an essential part of hospitality. If people are not safe at the church, nothing else that happens on Sunday morning (or any other time of the week) will matter. The Safety Team is present every Sunday morning to assist with any emergency that comes up: medical, natural disaster, or even someone intent on doing harm.

  • Pray for Wisdom: This team walks a fine line. They must be vigilant in watching for situations that need their attention. However, they can never compromise the welcoming atmosphere we want to create. They should reduce concern and fear, not add to them. Pray for their wisdom to be both vigilant and welcoming.
  • Pray for Resources: There are expenses associated with FBC’s safety. For example, we need to keep working defibrillators, stocked first-aid kits, communication tools, and security tools that we take for granted (alarms, locks, etc.). Pray for the resources we need to stay well-equipped to care for people.
  • Pray for Transformation: Pray that our safety team demonstrates God’s care and protection in tangible ways.

Thank you for praying with us through these 40 days!
