From Pastor Todd Malone
There was a theme to Sunday’s service: we need each other. Jim’s sermon emphasized this point. Our culture idolizes competition. There’s a lot to like about competition (I’m watching the Cowboys game as I write this). But competition at the wrong time and in the wrong context can undermine our relationships. Jim’s message challenged me: do I value cooperation? Am I other-centered more than self-centered?
How to pray for FBC
Thanksgiving and Christmas can be hard for people who are alone or for people who have lost someone close. We have both in our church. Pray for those who are in pain this Thanksgiving.
How to pray for our Community
Christmas is a bad time for many of the Children at South Ward Elementary. They do not get anything for Christmas. That is why FBC is stepping in to help. We are going to arrange for every child at South Ward to receive a gift. That’s why we are encouraging families to sacrifice one gift this Christmas and use that money to support a child at South Ward. That’s what the trees in the Foyer are all about. But we want this to be about more than presents. Let’s pray that these children meet Jesus this Christmas. I know Christmas is a month away, but it’s a good time to start praying.
How to pray for our World
Let’s offer a prayer of thanksgiving to the Lord for his work around the world. He is doing amazing things around the globe.
