Mid-Week Moment

Ministry Updates from Todd Malone

Sermon Reflection

Free to do whatever I want or free to be the person I was meant to be? Those are two very different views of freedom. The “do whatever I want” freedom sounds good, but it is an illusion. Just as importantly, what we want might not be what is good for us. Small children want to play in the street – there’s a reason parents don’t give that freedom. The challenge is to help the child want what is truly in his or her best interest – what leads to flourishing. The same is true with us. “Lord, help me to desire to be what you want me to be.” We will find we are always free to have such desires met..

Prayer Prompts

How to pray for FBC
The shooting in Sutherland Springs reminds us that churches are often targets. Let’s pray for the safety of our church.

How to pray for our Community
While praying for safety, let’s pray for safety in our schools – another target.

How to pray for our World
Of course, we need to pray for the church in Sutherland Springs victimized by the shooting. Many people will ask where God was in the middle of such tragedy. Let’s pray for people who are hurting to experience the peace and presence of God in a powerful way.
