Mid-Week Moment for Wednesday, October 18, 2017

Sermon Reflection

I am, as Jim put it in the sermon, a “beloved son.” I am not a “tolerated son.” I am not a “disappointing son” or an “abused son.” I am not even just an “acceptable son.”  I am much more. I am beloved by God. So are you.

Prayer Prompts

How to pray for FBC

The Encore Ministry has a retreat this weekend. Pray for a fun time in which those attending grow closer to the Lord and one another.

How to pray for our Community

Sunday’s paper had a small article about a van donated to Longview Interfaith Hospitality Network. LIHN is an organization that provides housing and life-skills training for homeless families. FBC is an active part of their work. Let’s pray for LIHN this week: (1) that the new van will be a blessing to many families, (2) that the families in their care will find Christ if they do not know them, (3) that LIHN will be blessed with the needed resources to minister to the homeless in Longview.

How to pray for our World

FBC’s Tiffany Owen leaves on Wednesday for Ethiopia. She will be there 10 days with E3 Partners (the same group that led the Peru trip). The team will work with a medical clinic and also address human trafficking. Pray for opportunities to share the gospel. Pray for safety. Pray also for her husband, Chris, and the kids. I know they will miss and worry about mom (and she will miss and worry about them).
