Sermon Reflection

Our world constantly sends us the message that we are only valuable if we have something to offer.

The children who came to Jesus in Mark 10 had nothing to offer him, but Jesus received them and blessed them. As Slade pointed out, this is good news to us. As hard as it is to admit, we are in the same position: we have nothing to offer Jesus. Yet he accepts us and blesses us anyway.

Prayer Prompts

How to pray for FBC

The school year is gearing up. Let’s pray for all of those in FBC who are about to launch into the school year: teachers, administrators, support staff, and students. Let’s pray that they will carry the message of Jesus into their schools. Let’s pray that our home school families have excellent opportunities to share their faith, as well.

How to pray for our Community and our World

This prayer prompt fits both East Texas and the world. We are grieved by the racially-charged violence in Virginia (or at least we should be). Revelation 4 and 5 picture people from every tribe, language, people, and nation joined in worship. Let’s pray that our churches give the world a glimpse of what that will be like. When the world sees it, may they see the savior who makes it possible.
