I have lived a lot of my Christian life waiting for the other shoe to drop. I know God loves me and is gracious, but what about tomorrow? Will God be so angry or disappointed in me tomorrow that He decides He’s giving up on me? The fact that God is unchanging comforts me. I will never live a day without the love, grace, and mercy of God. His purposes for me have always been good and they always will be. God isn’t going anywhere, no matter what I have done or what circumstances I face.
How to pray for FBC
Extreme Bible Adventure [XBA, formerly known as VBS] launches next week. The theme is Shipwrecked, and it will highlight how Jesus is our only rescue. One of the area Childcare facilities will bring over 90 children – what an amazing ministry opportunity! Please pray for all of the final details to fall into place (they might still need some workers). Pray that any children who do not yet know Jesus will come to know Him next week.
How to pray for our Community
FBC’s Youth Group took some time this week to serve Community Outreach Mission. Community Outreach Mission is a ministry in South Longview that helps people in need. For example, they provide clothing and help people pay utilities. Let’s pray for this ministry’s ability to show God’s love in tangible ways. Let’s also pray that this creates opportunities to tell others about Jesus.
How to pray for our World
John and Becky Woodworth and kids have returned to Kenya. The Woodworths are long-time FBC missionaries and Ginny DeBoer’s daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. They have been through several transitions over the past few years, but hopefully this will be the last for a while. They are currently in Nairobi gathering supplies. They will then head to their final destination. Pray for a successful transition, which includes setting up their new home (apparently a gang of baboons broke into the house and did a lot of damage – problems we don’t have in East Texas). Their exact assignment has not yet been determined. Pray that this will be finalized soon.
