New Year, Fresh Vision, Wholehearted Faith
I am excited about 2018. I believe the Lord is going to do amazing things in and through FBC. Our purpose, as always, is to see people become and grow as followers of Jesus. That means they live out the intention of becoming more like Jesus. We are planning on two major initiatives this year to help FBCers and those around us become more like Jesus.
First, our theme for the year is Wholehearted Faith. We will explore what it means to direct our love, desires, priorities, and values toward Jesus. This will include a time of reading the Psalms together as a church. Tyler and our worship teams are already working on putting several Psalms to music.
Our other major theme will be Family Discipleship: helping our families raise children who follow Jesus. Look for some incredible new resources coming in February through our Children’s and Youth ministries. More than resources, they are part of a plan to help guide families through different seasons of life. Jim is putting together an excellent parenting class that launches in January. Of course, family discipleship involves the entire church. We will explore ways that singles, grandparents, and couples without children play critical roles as the church builds Christ-centered families.
FBC will do a lot more than these two initiatives. We will continue reaching into our community and around the world with the good news of Jesus. We will foster deeper relationships with one another.
This will be an amazing year. Thank you for being a part of it!
Pray for Me
We want to rally our church around the next generation by praying for the children and youth of our church families. The goal is to make a Kingdom impact in the lives of our young people through prayer. On January 21, 2018, our church will launch a Pray For Me campaign to cover our young families with prayer.
Everyone can be involved, either as a —
1) Prayer Champion for a Young Family by committing to pray regularly for their children throughout the year, or as a
2) Young Family who would like to have one to two Prayer Champions committed to praying for your children for one year.
To participate please sign up at church during January and attend the launch of the Pray For Me campaign, Sun, Jan 21, 2018 (3:30 PM in CO-102). Prayer guides will be available at the launch.
ROAD SKILLS for Parents
On behalf of the staff, thank you for the gracious financial gifts you provided for the staff this year. We are all grateful for the many ways you care for us. Serving FBC is a blessing on its own. Thank you for further blessing us through your generosity.
